Ok so I sorta splurged on movies today. Which I don’t want to make it a habit given that I’m currently unemployed and unavailable for employment for the next 2.5 months.

So before I digress into why, I caught Pixar’s Cars at Plaza Singapura,

and then rushed over to Suntec to catch Over the Hedge.

Maybe it was the wrong order of watching cos Over the Hedge was a great disappointment compared to Cars. Yah and I had friends who said OTH was funny and that I should watch it. Maybe at the time Cars wasn’t out yet.

Though both plots were really mainstream, Pixar somehow managed to bring it out without being as contrived and as cheesy as DreamWorks. And maybe it’s Disney but the characters were really well developed and the comedic portions were appropriate and done very nicely.

Sadly the same can’t be said with DreamWorks. Not only did the characters feel sterotypical and unvaried, there were even parts where the animation wasn’t really well done.

Heard that Pixar and Disney are going their separate ways, but I hope the standard will remain.

Looks like the source where I heard from was wrong. Disney is accquiring Pixar so w00t! Good animators with good story tellers… I hope.

One a side note, I would so love to see Pixar doing an animated movie with a non-cartoon palette. Not that it has to be realistic but a more desaturated atmosphere.

And Justine wins her third French Open title, becoming the 8th woman to have won it three times or more, proving herself to be the new queen of clay.

Too bad the same can’t be said of Federer. It seems that the clay courts are eluding all the great players once again.
