FFG Failed?!
After 3.5 years, and the time has come. A process which every student has to complete. To file for graduation.
And I got rejected?!
The verifier claims that I have not met the University Level Requirements so off I go to shoot down the NUS admin. I suspect the system still isn’t able to handle modules with multiple codes and slot them into the appropriate slots. NUS is crap man.
At the very most I’ll just have tea with the dean. heh.
Edit: I’ve been told that SS cannot be to fulfil Breath requirements. Where’s the sense in that? And even so I have enough breath modules to use it as UE.
Module Bidding
So the time of each semester is here again and thankfully I hadn’t had any problems with the CORS bidding system. Well it’s either that they finally fixed the problems, I placed my bids well before the rush hour or nobody is ranting their problems to me.
Whatever the case is it is of no concern cos still I got what bidded for. But not without any incident.
Usually when it comes to module bidding, I just dump whatever points I’m willing to pay and be done with it. The rationale of that can be rationally explained but will not be discussed here. An irrational explanation is that being a final year student, and having experienced it all, you tend to “hack care” these things liao.
So I just split what’s left of my points between two modules according to what I thought would be the demand, thinking I might come back later to take a second look and check on the distribution based on the actual demand. Ok actually I was prepared to just leave it as is without taking a second look. Ooo… how sorry I would have been.
Thank God Peiwen SMSed me in the late morning asking me to take “Singapore Film” with her. Called her back and found that she was also bidding for the same module as I was and it had already exceeded what I had placed. Wah the demand was really that high. So I had to amend my previous point allocation to redistribute them out.
I’m rather amazed that one of the modules, Intro to Cybercrime is so hot that most people are outbidded by not even having enough points to start with. So this should imply that the majority should be final year students with lots of spare change in their pockets
⇒ that they’re looking for a very light workload module to clear
⇒ they want to slack or spend more time on their HYP
⇒ taking with pass/fail option
⇒ they won’t be getting/bothered with really good grades
⇒ higher chance of me scoring.

Also realised that my other module is not for bidding at this round so I have enough points to try for Singapore Film and use the remaining refunded points to see if I can still get it and then decide which to take at a later time. Anyway in the end the point chase for Intro to Cybercrime got too hot for Peiwen so she abandoned me to take Singapore Film alone. Whee… another module that just watch movies and rant about them. Should be just as fun. Thanks Peiwen for pointing it out.
Got those two modules with no problems at all.
With careful points juggling, analysis of previous year and the last minimum open bid, and “market survey” amongst friends, it shouldn’t be that hard to get the modules you want. Oh and being a final year student with a pocketful of spare change does help too.
