Tired

Saturday, 10 December 2005, 5:55 pm, me

Have been sleeping for almost the entire day, but still feel tired.

How many days do I have to sleep to pay back the sleep debt accumulated in the past few months. Or can it be paid back in installments?

Currently: tired Tired

Cheated

Saturday, 10 December 2005, 1:34 am, me

The Daytona machines at Bugis are no longer in extended mode (2.5 times longer than normal) but they’re still 18 cents per game.

Went to Century Square with Soph cos it was the only other place I know with Extended Daytona. Just really wanted to play the extended version even though it’s a dollar there.

Dropped in my coin and it was back to normal mode! Not only that but the gear sticks were in a really bad shape. Ok I’m not really fussy about the condition of the gear shift as long as it works but the accelerator of my car is spoilt too! Now not only do I not get to play longer laps but I can’t even play a proper game! wtf?!

Ended up going to Tampines Mall after Soph’s friend had her dinner to play on the bigger screen machines. Was still a dollar a game but at least they were working properly.

Ended up wasting $3 for 3 games in total. That could have bought me 16 games in Bugis! Argh.

PS: Anyway Soph got kinda excited about Daytona after I taught her how to drift at the beginner’s track. She might be starting to visit Bugis more often liao. =P

Rollerblading

Saturday, 10 December 2005, 1:18 am, me

Tried rollerblading for the first time during R&R in camp. Which is kinda ironic that I haven’t tried it in all those years.

Can’t say that I have reached the stage where it’s fun. Not that it wasn’t fun at all, just that it is really tiring and made my back ache a lot. I guess trying to get the balance is kinda stressful on the muscles.

And the rented blades were really horrible. Think it’s not really the right size, was loose and my “instructors” said they were misaligned. Not that I know what a misaligned blade looks like but it sure made my foot hurt.

Despite the torturous start, did actually manage to move around quite a bit, though rather awkwardly. Went too fast and suddenly realising I didn’t know how to stop, tripped over the stupid raised bicycle sign painted on the ground and landed on my butt.

I can’t think of any reason why the painted sign on the bicycle path has to be so thick, other than to trip learning rollerbladers like me. I imagine the workers snickering “Let’s make this really thick so learner cyclist and rollerbladers will trip over it. Heh heh heh…”

Well all the more I won’t give up now. I’ll choose to believe that the learning experience is what is fun for now.

Gonna see if my brother still has his blades. Anybody wanna teach, coach or be there for me to slam into?
