Fireworks Festival

Monday, 8 August 2005, 11:59 pm, me

Stayed back at the Esplanade after the show for the firework show at 12mn. Though it wasn’t as crowded as last year, the air was humid and stuff with no wind blowing.

But it was worth every bit of the wait.

Firework shows are the best. It’s so different from the celebratory kind like during parades where they throw big loud explosives bangs. This time it is a performance rather than a celebration.

So it’s really a very well choreography of fireworks, with lots and lots very pretty low level fireworks being thrown like water in the musical fountain and splattered with various designs of high level ones.

It’s a pity that we aren’t able to hear the music and not able to appreciate the story. Besides just seeing nice pretty colours in the sky, it would have been better to be able to be immersed into the flow of the story upon the composer’s heart.

But still worth every bit of the wait.

No photographs as I don’t believe that pictures are enough to capture the show so it would be pointless to post anyway. It would be like posting photos of a musical or play.

Dim Sum Dollies

Monday, 8 August 2005, 11:58 pm, me

Went to watch the third installment of the musical cabaret Dim Sum Dollies - Singapore’s Most Wanted.

As usual they were simply amazing and great. Such witty satire poking at current issues which all Singaporeans would (and should) identify with.

The casino debate, NKF saga and even the recently brought up icons of Sg, all put forth in either a sarcastic or comedic spoof routine.

To be able to look back at some of our nations issues and laugh about them, does in some way make it easier to move forward.

Well as they say, laughter is the best medicine. Our nation does need more of it.
