Trails and Tribulations

Thursday, 16 June 2005, 11:59 pm, me

Hit the trails at Pulau Ubin today.

Surprisingly there are still a couple of nice trails left in Ubin after all that redevelopment. We only found one l33t trail and it was rather short. The rest were your normal gentle slopes on sand/gravel where it’s just fun to speed through, to hear the crunching of the gravel, bumping over the roots, and feeling your bike slipping as you push the speed to the limit.

Trails - Shanli on the l33t trail. Somehow it looks less l33t in the photo.

Didn’t manage to search and try out every single trail as Cheese got rather exhausted and can’t really handle off-road well. Crashed into me a couple of times even when I was at the side of the path. Dunno why she’s so attracted to me. Maybe it’s cos they keep telling her to follow me.

Blur Cheese brought a camera but then forgot about taking photos during the trip. Suddenly remembered that she brought and went back to the l33t trail to take a photo of us rushing down the slope. Only managed a shot of Shanli before her camera ran out of batt. -_-

Adventerous us decided to bash through a trail and found that it disappeared after going in too deep. Horlan-ded and donated blood while trying to find our way back thru the vegetation. Garang us decided not to use any insect replellant so we can soak in the Ubin exprience.

No seafood in Ubin due to budget constraints (of others. Since when do I have budget constraints with food? hee), but introduced nice food in Changi Village.

Interesting point to note. You’ll get first pirority on the boat if you have a bicycle with you. That’s cos there’s a legal restriciton of 12 passengers per boat, but none on equipment. And you pay $2 extra per bike. Go do the math and see why the boatmen like us cyclist so much.
