Sportsmanship
Roland Garros - The 2005 French Open, semifinals between Federer and Nadal just ended. It is the semi that overshadows the finals. World No. 1 against the next promising No. 1. Whoever wins will most likely ownz the finals against some “unknown”.
Federer was clearly out of form, hitting way to many unforced errors and Nadal was extremely agile on the clay courts. Nadal won in the end but that’s not the main point of this entry.
Lines on the clay court aren’t very clear and the umpire sometimes make errornous judgement. Happened twice when the umpire called Federer’s shot out but Nadal, upon inspecting the mark, judged it was in and asked to reply the point.
Now I dunno about other sports but seldom do I see this level of sportsmanship being displayed. Furthermore the point Nadal could have got was significant enough to want to keep but I guess for Nadal, if he want to win the world no. 1, he would want to do it fairly.
My respect to both of them, great and honourable sportsmen.
