Tradition to be late?
Reached church at 7pm having arrived from Church Camp at Kuala Rompin. Teddy’s wedding dinner is to start at 7:30pm sharp as stated on the invitation card. Even after informing Teddy in advance that my arrival time is dependent on the traffic at immgration, I took a cab to Orchid Country Club and arrived just on time. Or so I thought. The ballroom was not even 25% full and I found my friends idling outside. So much for the need of being punctual. The dinner finally started at 9 and that’s like 1.5 hrs late. It seems that the intended time of starting is at 9 since the dinner ended at 11, which is still a comfortable time to start heading for home. Anyway it seems that being late is the tradition for chinese wedding dinners so in future if you want your dinner to start at 7:30pm, state 5pm on the invitation card. More…
